Our goal is to eliminate waste by recycling our corrugated boxes and packing material, that will allow us to reduce landfill. Based on our initial data captured from 2016-2018, we are projecting a 50% reduction in waste. Other waste items planned for recycling, paper & other office documents, aluminum cans and plastic bottles. We are projecting a reduction of (7,271) Metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent during this time period. We plan to install LED lighting in our Warehouse area, our goal is to reduce our electrical use by 20%. A goals that will begin in 2019 is to reduce the quantity and size of our shipping cartons throughout our supply chain through process improvements. We are now in the process of standardizing the size of the carton and the way our suppliers ship product to us that would coincide with our customer packaging requirements, thus eliminating the extra corrugated that would typically be discarded into landfill. Our projected reduction in GHG Emissions is (5,751) Metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent by 2030.

Additionally, we have a goal to have our two manufacturing facilities (located in Idaho and Indiana) achieve TRUE Zero Waste certification by 2020. 100 percent Green Power Commitment Clif Bar is a member of RE100 and is committed to sourcing 100 percent green power for the electricity used at all Clif-owned and -operated facilities. This includes our headquarters, bakeries in Idaho and Indiana and satellite offices in Ohio, Minnesota, and Arkansas. Clif has been a member of the EPA Green Power Program and sourcing green power since 2003. Clif Bar is working to increase renewables on-site while also sourcing the remaining green power to cover our needs through RECs. Approximately 80 percent of the electricity at Clif headquarters is generated by a 500-kW rooftop solar array. When installed in 2010, this was the largest smart solar array in North America. Clif Bar has also recently announced the groundbreaking of a 2MW solar array project to be installed at its Idaho bakery. This system will be the largest behind the meter solar array and the first to include pollinator habitat in Idaho. Greening the Supply Chain Additionally, through Clif Bar’s 50/50 by 2020 green supply chain program we're asking our supply chain partners (including ingredients, packaging, manufacturing, and logistics) to transition to 50 percent or more green power for the electricity used on Clif’s behalf by 2020. Recognized by the White House in 2014 and by the EPA in 2017 for supply chain leadership, this award-winning program provides free, expert consulting. To date, 44 supply chain facilities have successfully transitioned to sourcing green power for Clif Bar's products and services. We are committed to sourcing 100 percent of our palm kernel oil as Rainforest Alliance or organic. We are also working to find a sustainable path forward for glycerin that will be in place by 2020. We are committed to using sustainable materials with recycled content for our packaging. All Clif Bar paperboard caddies are made with 100 percent recycled paperboard and 90 percent of those caddies are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Our goal is to maintain this commitment and label our caddies as FSC certified by 2020. Carbon emissions are driven primarily by energy usage, product freight and business travel. Efforts are underway within these sectors to reduce emissions and we are expected to either meet or exceed our 2020 goal. EV100 & Transportation Emissions Clif Bar is a member of EV100 – a global initiative bringing together forward looking companies committed to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and making electric transport the new normal by 2030. Clif Bar has committed to incentivizing employees to purchase electric vehicles and commuter bikes, installing EV charging infrastructure at all our facilities, and transitioning our fleet to all plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles by 2030. Clif offers employees a $6,500 incentive to purchase a fuel-efficient hybrid or electric vehicle. Currently, approximately 44 percent of employees are participating in the program and our goal is to increase this to 50 percent by 2020.

Clif Bar is moving towards zero waste at our headquarters, bakeries and distribution centers with a 2020 goal of 90 percent or more waste diversion from landfills and incineration. Additionally, we…

GOAL: To start a recycling program in our office. Specific: I want to start a recycling program in our office. I have noticed we throw away tons of recyclable paper. I also want to create awareness on paper usage in our office. Measurable: We can measure our goal by counting how many bins of recycling we collect per week and seeing if we saved cost on paper at the end of the year. Achievable: This goal is achievable as long as we can create a culture in the office and everyone works together. Relevant: Yes. We throw away a large amount of recyclable paper. Time Limited: Finish project by December 2018 - but continue recycling paper past then. – from 2018 to 2019 2,364 tons committed (mtC02e).

Reduce packaging by 15% per 1000 uses by 2020. Reduction includes: -weight reduction -replacing virgin content with recycled content. We are currently recalculating our baseline figure. We have expanded the scope of what we are including to include tertiary packaging, such as pallets and shrink wrap to encourage improvement across more areas of our packaging. Once we have a reestablished measurement we can provide a Tons committed estimate. Recent projects include: -2017: Increased recycled content in all corrugate shippers from 30% --> 45%. Will move to 60% in 2018. -2017: 23% reduction in label release liner thickness for several skus. Expanding in 2018-2019 -2018: 19% reduction in PET used in 2L bottles for FMX and CXR platforms -2018: All pallets now recycled, or having a second life.

Reduce global absolute greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions, Scopes 1 and 2 (MTCO2e) market-based, by 40% as compared to a FY11 baseline. This goal and target have been approved as science-based by the Science-Based Targets initiative. The base year emissions for Dell's FY11 (~2010) Scope 1+2 Market based emissions were 602,039 MT CO2e. The 2020 emissions reduction goal (the amount to reduce) is 40% x 602,039 = 240,816 MT CO2e.

We have already started to reduce our consumption. We installed solar panels on the roof of our manufacturing facility in Fall River, MA. The solar panels generate 40% of the power used in our facility. We have also installed LED lighting and variable speed motors in our HVAC system. We will continue to reduce energy consumption in the next year by installing an energy efficient boiler system. We believe we can reduce consumption 3% per year.
