Our goal is to eliminate waste by recycling our corrugated boxes and packing material, that will allow us to reduce landfill. Based on our initial data captured from 2016-2018, we are projecting a 50% reduction in waste. Other waste items planned for recycling, paper & other office documents, aluminum cans and plastic bottles. We are projecting a reduction of (7,271) Metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent during this time period. We plan to install LED lighting in our Warehouse area, our goal is to reduce our electrical use by 20%. A goals that will begin in 2019 is to reduce the quantity and size of our shipping cartons throughout our supply chain through process improvements. We are now in the process of standardizing the size of the carton and the way our suppliers ship product to us that would coincide with our customer packaging requirements, thus eliminating the extra corrugated that would typically be discarded into landfill. Our projected reduction in GHG Emissions is (5,751) Metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent by 2030.

Setting up of bench marking every year to reduce the consumption. 5. Development of alternate sources of energy like solar energy, biomass energy etc. 6. Regular maintenance of equipment to check the losses. 7. Use of energy efficient processes. 8. We will reduce the carbon emission by 2 percent by 2030 by implementing the tools & techniques to improve sustainability index. Currently we are reducing 2404.33 MT of CO2 emission per day and we would like to increase the reduction of carbon emission by adopting renewable source of energy i.e. Solar Energy. Kapoor Industries has been working on reduction in waste generation, since last two year various steps has been taken to decrease and to minimize the waste generation. To reduce waste, following are the strategies that have been finalized: 1. The unit is generating hazardous waste as used oil & discarded containers and stored within the premises for final disposal to approved recycler. 2. Now, The unit is having AMC with M/s. JK Lakshmi Cement (Formerly with GEPIL) to disposal of hazardous waste. The receiver of hazardous waste i.e. ETP Sludge is a co-processor which used the sludge as raw material in cement manufacturing. 3. The unit having proper storage place to keep the hazardous waste separately. 4. The team has suggested to keep MSDS of hazardous chemicals to all location where it in use. 5. Unit is maintaining the solid waste and adopting reducing, recycling and reuses policy. 6. Unit is using paper for both side in printing and also use soft material instead of the print and copying. Kapoor Industries has been working on reduction in packaging material, various steps has been taken to decrease and to minimize the packaging material consumption. To reduce packaging material consumption, following are the strategies that has been finalized: 1. We are trying to substitute high density polythene material to low density polythene. 2. Processes are implementing to generate the minimum waste so as to improve the packaging material procurement. 3. Packaging material consumption depends upon the volume of production but Kapoor Industries always take initiative to improve the packaging. 4. Kapoor Industries is looking forward for adopting the recyclable material and material with latest technology which comprise of up to date content and environment friendly.

While we don’t own grain farms, we do buy corn and soybeans to feed our poultry, as do the independent farmers and ranchers who sell us cattle and pigs. Since grain production is part of our supply chain and contributes to our overall carbon footprint, we’re taking a major step to lessen its environmental impact. Tyson Foods has committed to support improved environmental practices on 2 million acres of corn production by the end of 2020. This is the largest-ever land stewardship commitment by a U.S. protein company and is expected to lower the greenhouse gas emissions generated by our supply chain. As farmers implement increasingly efficient land and nutrient management practices, the effects can be felt throughout the supply chain. Specifically, through optimized nutrient management, there will be less demand for fertilizer resulting in less energy used to produce the fertilizer; but more importantly, there will be less fertilizer applied per acre, resulting in reduced total nitrous oxide emissions. Update: On January 15, 2019 Tyson Foods, Inc. and Environmental Defense Fund (EDF) announced a new partnership to develop and deploy initiatives that support Tyson’s sustainability strategy and help meet increasing consumer demand for more sustainably grown food. The partnership’s first project focuses on land stewardship and aims to pilot and scale agriculture practices on 500,000 acres of corn that reduce greenhouse gas emissions (GHG), improve water quality and maximize farmer profitability. This effort will also help Tyson meet its land stewardship goal of working with farmers to improve environmental practices across two million acres of corn production by 2020. The pilot will use cloud-based agricultural technologies from MyFarms and Farmers Business Network (FBN), both of which collect information on agricultural production practices while protecting data privacy. Insights from the analysis of that data will inform sustainability at the field level. In February 2018, we announced our target to decrease greenhouse gas emissions 30 percent by 2030. We made this bold public commitment as part of our holistic approach to sustainability, to help people understand what Tyson Foods stands for with respect to environmental responsibility and because we recognize reducing greenhouse gas emissions is an important part of producing sustainable food and protecting our planet for future generations. We’re very excited to announce that our greenhouse gas emissions target has been accepted by the Science Based Targets initiative, making us the first U.S. protein company in the food and beverage sector to receive such an approval. The Science Based Target Initiative is a collaboration between CDP (formerly the Carbon Disclosure Project), World Resources Institute, World Wildlife Fund, and the United Nations Global Compact. The initiative helps companies determine a pathway for reducing their emissions in line with limiting global warming to well below 2°Celsius above pre-industrial levels. Our targets were developed in collaboration with the World Resources Institute, a global research organization that works with leaders across different industries and organizations to help turn ideas into action around sustainability. Our greenhouse gas reduction target includes emissions from our direct operations as well as our entire value chain, with 2016 being our baseline year. For us, this includes everything from the grain that is fed to livestock to the energy used to sell our protein products in grocery stores and through foodservice operators.

By 2030, we plan to be carbon positive in our operations on a global basis, meaning our carbon capture is greater than carbon emissions. We are setting science-based carbon reduction targets to guide our efforts, which may include minimizing on-site Scope 1 emissions (fossil fuels), purchasing renewable electricity for Scope 2 operations and generating renewable energy back into the grid. We continue to work towards achieving zero waste to landfill, across our operations. A few of our facilities are already there. This goal applies to our daily direct operations (one-off construction and other events may be excluded). We encourage reuse and recycling in all instances. We seek to use water sustainably wherever we do business. We are mapping water risks and setting context-based targets that address site-specific concerns in each river basin — important given that water availability and risks are highly localized.

We have expanded the scope of what we are including to include tertiary packaging, such as pallets and shrink wrap to encourage improvement across more areas of our packaging. Once we have a reestablished measurement we can provide a Tons committed estimate. Recent projects include: -2017: Increased recycled content in all corrugate shippers from 30% --> 45%. Will move to 60% in 2018. -2017: 23% reduction in label release liner thickness for several skus. Expanding in 2018-2019 -2018: 19% reduction in PET used in 2L bottles for FMX and CXR platforms -2018: All pallets now recycled, or having a second life.

Clif Bar is moving towards zero waste at our headquarters, bakeries and distribution centers with a 2020 goal of 90 percent or more waste diversion from landfills and incineration. Additionally, we have a goal to have our two manufacturing facilities (located in Idaho and Indiana) achieve TRUE Zero Waste certification by 2020. 100 percent Green Power Commitment Clif Bar is a member of RE100 and is committed to sourcing 100 percent green power for the electricity used at all Clif-owned and -operated facilities. This includes our headquarters, bakeries in Idaho and Indiana and satellite offices in Ohio, Minnesota, and Arkansas. Clif has been a member of the EPA Green Power Program and sourcing green power since 2003. Clif Bar is working to increase renewables on-site while also sourcing the remaining green power to cover our needs through RECs. Approximately 80 percent of the electricity at Clif headquarters is generated by a 500-kW rooftop solar array. When installed in 2010, this was the largest smart solar array in North America. Clif Bar has also recently announced the groundbreaking of a 2MW solar array project to be installed at its Idaho bakery. This system will be the largest behind the meter solar array and the first to include pollinator habitat in Idaho. Greening the Supply Chain Additionally, through Clif Bar’s 50/50 by 2020 green supply chain program we're asking our supply chain partners (including ingredients, packaging, manufacturing, and logistics) to transition to 50 percent or more green power for the electricity used on Clif’s behalf by 2020. Recognized by the White House in 2014 and by the EPA in 2017 for supply chain leadership, this award-winning program provides free, expert consulting. To date, 44 supply chain facilities have successfully transitioned to sourcing green power for Clif Bar's products and services. We are committed to sourcing 100 percent of our palm kernel oil as Rainforest Alliance or organic. We are also working to find a sustainable path forward for glycerin that will be in place by 2020. We are committed to using sustainable materials with recycled content for our packaging. All Clif Bar paperboard caddies are made with 100 percent recycled paperboard and 90 percent of those caddies are certified by the Forest Stewardship Council. Our goal is to maintain this commitment and label our caddies as FSC certified by 2020. Carbon emissions are driven primarily by energy usage, product freight and business travel. Efforts are underway within these sectors to reduce emissions and we are expected to either meet or exceed our 2020 goal. EV100 & Transportation Emissions Clif Bar is a member of EV100 – a global initiative bringing together forward looking companies committed to accelerating the transition to electric vehicles (EVs) and making electric transport the new normal by 2030. Clif Bar has committed to incentivizing employees to purchase electric vehicles and commuter bikes, installing EV charging infrastructure at all our facilities, and transitioning our fleet to all plug-in hybrid and electric vehicles by 2030. Clif offers employees a $6,500 incentive to purchase a fuel-efficient hybrid or electric vehicle. Currently, approximately 44 percent of employees are participating in the program and our goal is to increase this to 50 percent by 2020.

We are very excited to join in Walmart Project Gigaton program to contribute the GHG emission reduction. From the baseline year of 2018 to the target year of 2025, we are making efforts to support sustainability development and green production through our supply chain. Within the 6 years, we plan to reduce the GHG emission by 10%. In order to achieve the goal, we have done and/ or will do the following programs: 1. By the end of 2019, all our dyeing and finishing facilities will change coal to natural gas. Through this measure, GHG emission can be saved more than 30%. 2. For the sewage discharge, currently, all the sewage has been disposed under the national standard and 40% of it has been disposed and recycled to re-use. By the end of 2020, 70% of sewage will be disposed and recycled to re-use. 3. Now the lighting equipment in dyeing and finishing facilities is 30% LED. By the end of 2020, 100% lights will be changed to LED to save energy. Through this tool, we hope the GHG emission can be saved 5%. 4. Our main dyeing and finishing facility has replaced the old production machines, such as fabric polishing machine, fabric heat-setting machine and other updates. Through this machine update, energy has been saved a lot, so to reduce the GHG emission about 25% than the old machines.

GOAL: To start a recycling program in our office. Specific: I want to start a recycling program in our office. I have noticed we throw away tons of recyclable paper. I also want to create awareness on paper usage in our office. Measurable: We can measure our goal by counting how many bins of recycling we collect per week and seeing if we saved cost on paper at the end of the year. Achievable: This goal is achievable as long as we can create a culture in the office and everyone works together. Relevant: Yes. We throw away a large amount of recyclable paper. Time Limited: Finish project by December 2018 - but continue recycling paper past then. – from 2018 to 2019 2,364 tons committed (mtC02e).
